The goal of this project was to use typography and Adobe Photoshop to create a podcast cover. The topic of my podcast is called “Real Talk” and it focuses on talking about real things that are not talked about enough. This podcast is hosted by myself, so I wanted to emphasize that by putting myself on the cover. In order to create layers, I put the base of the cover as a photo of myself, then I masked myself to create another layer, and then I layered a low-opacity photo over the images. When choosing fonts and typography-related choices, I wanted to choose something bold, but simple. The podcast is focused on keeping it real and saying things with no filter. The font I chose communicated this message perfectly: simple. In addition to this, I warped the text in the shape of a megaphone to make it look like the words were coming out of my mouth, just like they do on the podcast. Lastly, I chose the low-opacity image to place on top because it gives the impression of coffee splatters, which connects to the coffee shop environment and the coffee in my hand. This cover helps to visually communicate what the podcast is about and who is speaking.
